"Why don't you let me write it? I will Optimist it!"

Shiiiiit. My first thought now that it seems official that Orzi and Kurtzman will not write the new Transformers film. According to this site it’s over and out.

It’s no surprise, as they’ve been quite vocal about how they did not seem to like the portrayal of the “Bay-twins” (Skids and Mudflap). Just read this article. Two characters written in to the script after demands from Bay, who thought they would apeal to the the kids. And I’ve read Orci state on a forum that it did cost screen-time for other transformers.

Now, I don’t think Orci and Kurtzman are the best writers out there. They do a good job, but all of their previous films (TRANSFORMERS I&II, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE II, STAR TREK) had some silly flaws. But they have passion for the franchise, for example Orci spent a lot of time interacting with fans on message boards. I really get a good vibe from that guy, how many Hollywood-writers do that?

Ehren Kruger will now be writing the script, he was co-writing the one for the last Transformers. Which is not comforting, as it was no where near the quality of the first that was only Orci and Kurtzmans doing. But then again, the Hollywood strike may be the cause of all the faults of that last script.

I just don’t know, Kruger has just not shown anything resembling him being qualified to give us a good film (except maybe for THE RING). And Bays inputs are probably better left in the can, he should maybe concentrate on doing the best with the script at hand and not trying to change it.

But maybe I’m just a bit to much of a Negatron. I really want to be an Optimist Prime to these news, but it’s hard. I hope they give us something good. Feel free to share your thoughts.
