Ah, thar be nothin’ like t’ hot winds o’ Hell blowin’ in yer face! It be time for another chapter in Guybrush quest t’ rid t’ world of t’ evil he managed t’ set loose in his mumblin’ actions of stupidity in chapter one. Will this chapter match the first? May it even be better? Read on me harties and I’ll be givin’ ye t’ answer in a pirated way.

T’ cliffhanger from t’ first chapter had port me with excitement and anticipation that with slow ease killed of every little bit of patience in this foul pirate body. Me wants it, me neeeeds it! As I downloaded and installed Tales O’ Monkey Island: T’ Siege O’ Spinner Cay it slowly felt like the Pox of LeChuck had started to infect me. I fired up t’ game and the only barricade port was the activation. And what happened?

“ERROR CONNECTING TO SERVER” .

Why ye EVIL, FOUL-SMELLING, VILE, CEODEPENDENT VILLAINOUS game! HOW DARE YE!

I sent away a blimin’ e-mail t’ the guys over at Telltale, expectin’ it be many days before they be answerin’ this annoyed pirate. But then, only 15 minutes later they be answerin’ me prayers and t’ problem was solved. Now that be service!

Taste my spicy blade, ye thievin’ pirate!

So I sat sail and jumped into t’ adventure O’ foolish Guybrush. T’ story continued right where we left him. I won’t bother givin’ ye any insight in t’ story, because ye need to find out that part yerself. It begins in t’ best way possible for any pirate; with a sword fight. May it be… insult-sword fighting? Please? Pretty please? Please pretty please with sugar on top let it be that? Nay! Darn it!

That first be a mighty disappointment, but as t’ fight go on I laugh and laugh. Because this be some funny shit, excuse my language. We’re thrown right into excitin’ adventure, with a helluva lot more goin’ on than in t’ first chapter. And it keeps on that way all t’ way through.

Epic fun

T’ best part of this chapter be without a doubt t’ humor. It be a lot funnier than previous chapter, all t’ way up there with t’ best O’ t’ best Monkey Island has t’ offer. At one point Guybrush gets so bored with creative ways of distractin’ people, he just shouts out “look, a distraction!”. I be laughin’ so loud I woke up me sprogs.

T’ humor is everything from easy, to sophisticated and at times even a bit… sexual. Habba habba. With many references to Guybrush past. They sure did a swell job with t’ writin’, no doubt about that. And t’ game looks good, as long as ye have it on highest detail-level. Tune it to much down and it be lookin’ like ye be playin’ a walkin’ pirate zombie in la la land.

The humor be t’ key for enjoying this episode. If ye have good humor like me, it be mighty fine experience. If ye, by the other pox-infected hand, don’t have good humor then this may not be all that of a chapter. But then again, who cares about what ye think if yer such a drag of a stinkin’ laughter-killer.

If this game don’t make ye laugh than it be because ye be havin’ an attitude problem. And a hair problem! Am I insultin’ ye now? Well who cares, I be a mighty pirate and It be my job to insult you. Ye be fightin’ like a cow anyways! Must ye be takin’ t’ fun out o’ everything?

Aye, this chapter is great in so many ways. As a bonus, we have LeChuck. He’s the spice that makes this ale taste like hillarious fire from the laughter of the damned buried beneath hells kitchen! And yes, I have no idea what I just wrote. Without givin’ away to much of t’ story, LeChuck is .. a good guy. Ugh. Or may he be up to somethin’? The interaction between him and Guybrush be mighty fine, they make me all jiggly and … err… Bah, just play it already and find out!

The-who-the-what-now-not so good

Unfortunately there be times when I wish thar were more in this for that stupid Guybrush with his ridicolous name. What ever happened to his ambitions? Character development? Don’t get me wrong, he be hilarious in this one but me be wantin’ some of that quest-for-greatness t’ first game gave us twenty years ago, when he wanted to become a mighty pirate. Now he just wants to be .. back were he was. And the controls still throws me out of Guybrush world and into my world. The old style was superior.

The verdict

This games funny as hell, the key is to talk a lot because thar be tons of great dialog. Take yer time with that. Because the puzzles be a bit easy this time around and ye be finishin’ it in just a few hours. It be funnier than the first chapter, more excitin’ and it has a new hottie who’ll stir things up between Guybrush and Elaine, you wait and see. As if a heroic LeChuck isn’t enough.. It be a bit too short, but all in all T’ Tales O’ Monkey Island is still goin’ strong.

Do ye recommend Monkey Island: The Siege of Spinner Cay?
