PRINCE OF PERSIA footage out

The first (?) footage from the coming big-blockbuster from Bruckheimer and Disney is out. I’m slowly getting hyped for this film adaption of the games. Initially it was Michael Bay who was rumored to direct, but he’s to busy with the Transformers-success. Maybe it’s best, because there’s just not much to blow up in this kind of story…
It’s supposed to be loosely based on The sands of time-storyline, from the 2003-game. But don’t expect it to follow the games story if there’s sequels. According to this interview there’s probably never going to be a Warrior Within-storyline, which is a bummer. I really liked that game.
As the prince we find Jake Gyllenhal (oh my does he look in shape) and it also stars the magnificent Ben Kingsley. Disney had tremendous success with the Pirates of the Caribbean-trilogy, so now they’re aiming high and hope this one can be another big hit-franchise.
Mike Newell is directing this one, and that I like. He directed my favourite Harry Potter film to-date (The Goblet of Fire), but is probably best known for Four Weddings and a Funeral.
May 28th, 2010 is the magical date for the prince to come running across walls, slicing up evildoers. Oh, and we even get to know his name! It’s Dastan. Here’s the footage that aired on ABC:
