2.jpgThe secrecy surrounding this film is quite unique. They’ve leaked false scripts and director Michael Bay proclaimed that he would lie about what was going on. Everybody involved in the film could risk ending up being abducted and tortured if they revealed anything. They even sent out a fake toy to lure the fans. All of this has turned into a mind-game between Bay and the fans, never knowing what piece of info that’s true and what’s bogus.

What we know so far is what we’ve seen in the trailers and interview from the writers (who has promised not to lie). It’s not much, but we know that The Fallen is a character, but also that Megatron and Blackout return from the cold deep ocean that became their grave in the first one. Sam is going to college and Mikaela is spending her time looking hot on a bike.

And today Creative Screenwriting Magazine revealed some more pieces of info about the plot:

When the story begins, the Autobots and the military have been waging a secret war against the Decpticons. As more of the giant robots continue to resurface, though, it becomes apparent the Transformers have been part of Earth’s history for longer than they’d led mankind to believe. One group of bureaucrats even womders if the Decepticons are only appearing because of the Autobot presence. Desperate not to leave Earth undefended, Optimus Prime turns to Sam and asks him to become a human advocate, someone who will convince mankind that the Autobots should be allowed to saty. Sam refuses to believe he can help, though, wanting to go to college and live a normal life – as normal as possible with the strange thoughts and visions that have haunted him since being exposed to the All Spark’s primal energies two years earlier. Alas, Sam’s refusal will have harsh consequences for himself, the Autobots and possibly the entire world. The Decepticons fallen leader, Megatron has been resurrected and brings with him an ancient evil from the Transformers own history.

“All great sequels have an incredibly frightening bad guy,” says Kurtzman, amending their earlier list of traits, “who challenges your hero in a way that is unique,” They found such a character in the comic-book Transformers mythology, a primordial creature known only as The Fallen. “He was one of the first Transformers. He was Lucifer. He was the fallen angel. And it just felt like a great place to come from.”

It sounds great! They throw in some politics, an evil mythical bad ass and even ads the villains from the first one. And with including Devastator, a combiner of seven other robots, it sure looks like the Autobots and humans are outgunned. This is a bit like David vs. Goliath.

Other things we know is the writers telling us that they’ve used Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, Star Trek Wrath of Khan and Termintator 2: Judgment Day as inspiration. You don’t say things like that without having ambitions, since the three films are sequels that’s not only some of the best films in history (well, maybe not Wrath of Khan..), but also seen upon as better than the first film. To add Steven Spielberg, who after watching an early print told Bay this probably was his best film ever. It’s no wonder us fans of the first one is getting mighty hyped for this second installment.

Both Empire Strikes Back and Wrath Of Khan had sad and shocking endings, so will they try something like that here? Bay has said “no cliffhangers, I don’t do that”. But then again, he’s also said he will lie his arse of when it comes to this film.

The running time of this film is rumored to be even longer than the first, which was 2 1/2 hours. The budget is way bigger and they have the experience from the first film, which in many ways was totally new territory. Everything is looking good for us fans, it’s less than two months away now.

Just don’t kill of Optimus. They did that already, and it was a shock back then and I don’t want that to be the outcome again. In the film from 86′ the autobots was close to defeat, many of them (Ironhide, Ratchet and others) had been killed by Megatron and Devestator was crushing the Autobot city. Everything seemed lost, but then Optimus arrives. For some real prime time.

To bad they killed him of just to sell more toys… But Rodimus Prime wasn’t that bad a character, but he was no Optimus.

Oh, and by the way. If you didn’t catch the joke, they don’t really kidnap and torture people. I think…
